Centreville School provides an educational program that produces academic success and social development for children with learning disabilities.

Collaborating with Clay Dingman of Barking Cat Productions, the Centreville site was redesigned from head to toe, providing the school with an elegant new website that matches the school's visual identity and gives them full control over the management of the site, via a custom web-based administration area.

Amongst many other features, the site is equipped with an "online giving" page that allows the school to generate all-important funds in the form of contributions made securely online, and a web-based newsletter creation/management application.

CD Baby: Visual Redesign

CD Baby is one if the world's largest retailers/distributors of independent music. In the Summer of 2007, CD Baby president and programmer Derek Sivers contracted me to come up with a clean & attractive CSS design to accompany his complete overhaul of the site's back-end programming and XHTML.

After several months of working closely together to ensure that the new site would be fast loading, standards-compliant, and popular with the site's more than 100,000 member artists, the new site was launched in September of 2007, to overwhelmingly positive reviews!

Crunchy Western Boys: Official Band Website

"The forefathers of 'crunchy western' music...deliver a homegrown, crunchy cookin’ performance with mandolin, bass, fiddle, guitar, dobro, banjo, harmonica, and vocals."

The CWB website was created with our very own Musician Website Package, providing the band with all the tools they need to promote their music, stay connected with fans, and publicize their concert schedule -- amongst oodles of other features. The site went live just before the band opened up for contemporary bluegrass musician Alison Krauss, allowing the band to plug the site to fans and potential bookings contacts.

The Black Bear Moon Music and Cultural Project is a cultural and arts organization that, as it just so happens, I am the director of! BBM works to promote the arts and culturally diverse activities. In particular, we have chosen to devote a good portion of our energies into the musical traditions of West Africa, where we have some close contacts and good teachers.

The site was designed to be clear and informative, but also inspiring and educational. Viewers can sign the mailing list and receive the monthly newsletter, and can also register for classes online and view upcoming events, see photos from our travels to West Africa, and more.

Institute for Contemporary Art Mediatheque

The Mediatheque was created for the ICA's grand re-opening, in its new building on the waterfront in Boston, MA. Working closely with Chedd-Angier-Lewis, the Mediatheque was designed to allow the visitors to the museum “interact” with the work on display in the museum by browsing through the database of work, view videos of the artists or experts, comment and tag the work, view other visitors' comments, participate in polls and questionnaires, and more.

Camp Pasquaney

Camp Pasquaney is a historic camp on Newfound Lake in Hebron, NH. Collaborating with a fantastic communications design firm, Barking Cat Productions, the Camp's complete site redesign included, among other things, a searchable online archive of historic documents, photos, and more that can be easily administered by Camp through a custom, web-based administration area.

The site also features online photo galleries, daily logs that the campers can add and update each day, and an extensive system that allows campers, parents, and alumni to update their own contact info via the website, automatically syncing with the Camp's "Raiser's Edge" database, saving Camp administrators oodles of time and energy throughout the year.

Dr. Sara Thyr Website

Sara Thyr is a fully-licensed naturopathic primary care doctor and naturopathic midwife who specializes in caring for women, children and all family members.

Dr. Thyr's website was created by BBM Designs to provide her with a full-featured website that was easy to maintain. The site features a calendar of speaking engagements, downloadable forms for patients to fill out before they arrive, a news blog, and a links and resources page for patients -- all maintained by Sara from her custom web-based administration area. Great work, Sara!

Longhaul Farm

Longhaul Farm approached me to design a simple, clean website that would be very easy to update. Working with the owners of the farm was an enjoyable process, allowing me to visit the beautiful 33 acre farm, tucked into the mountains in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. The farm features their own organically grown produce, a gift shop, and events throughout the summer.

NHAND

The NHAND (New Hampshire Association of Naturopathic Doctors) website involved creating an online resource for both the member-practitioners of NHAND and the New Hampshire community, that functions as an informational resource as well as a promotional tool.

In addition to being attractive and accessible over the widest range of browsers, this all-CSS layout is driven by a unique, fully customized PHP/MySQL members section, written and coded from scratch. This "members section" allows each of the member-practitioners of NHAND to log in with their own unique username and password and keep their own information up-to-date, as well as add articles, events, and news items to the site, keeping the site's content fresh and current without the need for a webmaster.

Hostbaby: web hosting for musicians

Hostbaby provides web hosting and web site management solutions for musicians. Created by CD Baby founder and president Derek Sivers, Hostbaby "helps musicians have the best website possible, without needing to be a computer expert."

The visual redesign of the Hostbaby site uses web standards and helps showcase the many features and tools of the hosting package.

Gillian Martlew, Naturopathic Doctor

The Gillian Martlew site is dedicated to providing information both about Naturopathic Healing, and the services of Dr. Gillian Martlew, a licensed Naturopathic practitioner located in New London, New Hampshire.

The site uses a lot of CSS in the design, which enabled me to achieve some creative and visually appealing effects. The entire site is database driven using a combination of php and mysql. The result: Dr. Martlew has complete control over the content of the site from a web-based admin area, along with the ability to add articles and news items.

CD Baby/Hostbaby “Wizard”

This project, for Derek Sivers of CDBaby, was to design, with CSS, the backend administration area that the clients of the company's offshoot, Hostbaby, will use to administrate their own websites.

Derek had already authored the XHTML, and my job was to come up with a clear, attractive design that made the site user friendly and fun to use. A fun project, and a company whose mission I really jive with. Support your independent musician and buy a CD from CD Baby!
